About the author

Kathryn Coulibaly is a writer from Atlantic City, NJ.  Her non-fiction has appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Glimpse magazine, Single Parent magazine, and several trade publications.  Her fiction has appeared in Writer’s Bloc, the Cynic Online Magazine, Initiatives, and Folio.

From  1997-1999, Kathryn served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bagassi, Burkina Faso, West Africa. During her  service, she taught English at the College d’Enseignement Generale de Bagassi.

Her secondary projects included a girls’ club to encourage them to continue  their educations;  AIDS education projects; and women’s economic development projects.  While  living in Burkina Faso, Kathryn traveled to Mali, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin.

Since returning to the U.S., Kathryn has continued to pursue her interests in writing and educating Americans about other cultures.  She has spoken at numerous schools and universities about her service and experiences living overseas.

In 1996, Kathryn was a visiting student at New College, Oxford University in England where she studied the plays of William Shakespeare.  She also traveled to Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

Kathryn earned a bachelor of arts degree in Literature and Journalism from American University in 1997 and a master of arts degree in Public Communication from American in 2003.  She is the proud mother of one son who she hopes will grow up to be an excellent travel companion.
